Fanatic Loyalty...

hmm... watched "THE DOWNFALL" wif soon kueh today... felt tt the movie was quite real... the war scene depicted was rather realistic despite being a bit bloody wif all the gunshots... the story of the movie is simple... its the last few wks of tough battle on the side of the Germans durin WWII... in which they operated frm a bunker underground... desperate to hold on to tt belief tt they will still hav tt final victory... however... things dun go their way... n they suffer setbacks after setbacks upon setbacks... armies were immobilised... high-rankin officers were deserting the group... n the Russians were hot on their heels... *dun really noe y only the Russians were brought in... wad happened to the rest of the Allies???*... but tt's beside the pt... but i must say tt the show really depicted the renowned tyrant, Hitler, in a slightly different light... textbooks describe him as a cold-blooded murderer, a tyrant, but in the show... it reveals how he was also a human... faced wif setbacks n betrayal... the one tt shocked him the most was the betrayal by Heinrich Himmler... *tink its the officer-in-charge of SS, haha, forgot my history liao*... who was supposedly his closest n most "loyal" subordinate... altho i still condemn Hitler for wad he did in WWII, this movie really let me c another side of him... the human side... the one tt every is deep down in our hearts... n the most crazy thing in the show tt soon kueh n i agreed on was tt the officers were so loyal... to the extent tt they were all willing to commit suicide after Hitler died... n many of them did as well... hmm... it sounds funny when there was a scene tt the wife of Goebbels said, "I wont let my children live in a world without National Socialism *Nazism*..."... n she proceeded on to murder her children one by one... but it juz goes to show how deeply rooted they were in this loyalty to Nazism n Hitler... n coincidentally, the bk im readin now also has such a scene... a high-ranking officer sentenced to death was still firmly believin tt the emperor will spare him... w/o realisin tt the poor emperor was too powerless to do anythin... sigh... but overall the movie was gd... glad i watched it... :)
